Basics of Ceramics (9 h)
Come enjoy a new hobby and learn the hand-building techniques of ceramics at our inspiring studio. At this course you will learn the basics of clay as a material and ceramic process as well as pinching, coiling, slab building techniques and glazing during three sessions of 3 hours.
Envision ceramic pieces of your dreams and come create them at the guidance of Ceramic Artisan Eija Miettinen. During the first two sessions we will hand-build using and learning different techniques and decorate getting to know engobes and decorating tools. At the last session you will learn about oxides, underglazes and glazes, glazing safety, different glazing techniques and get to glaze the pieces you've made during the course.
The course is suitable for everyone interested in ceramics! Experience is not required – at our inspiring and supportive guidance it is relaxed to learn new skills or refresh them after a break. This course works as a good basis for independent working at our open studio.
Guidance, materials, kiln firings and coffee/tea is included in the price 140 €. You can pick up your pieces 2 weeks after the course. Registration is binding once the course is paid.
